Complete Health Selected as Direct Contracting Entity (DCE)

Innovative Medicare and Medicaid program focuses on seniors’ health needs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 20, 2021 – Complete Health primary care group has been selected by Medicare as a pioneer participant in the new Medicare Direct Contracting Entity (DCE) program Implementation Period, which runs from October 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021. The Implementation Period provides an opportunity for DCEs to prepare for the first performance year (PY1), which starts on April 1, 2021. As one of the first 51 entities in this innovative program, Complete Health physicians will have additional tools and programs to better serve the needs of Medicare patients. The DCE model allows primary care physicians to better coordinate care for these patients under existing standards and options. The program is administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Complete Health has six locations in the Birmingham, Alabama metro area and seven locations across Volusia County in Florida.

A DCE is a group of doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers who agree to work together to keep patients healthy. All the physicians of Complete Health Accountable Care agree to work together to see patients get the right care at the right time. DCE health care providers work collaboratively to provide higher quality care and coordinate care according to individual medical needs and treatment choices. Complete Health Accountable Care protects medical records and privacy and helps reduce duplicate tests and paperwork that waste time and money.

One of the goals of the DCE program is to equip physicians to better align Medicare financial incentives with whole-person care, empowering beneficiaries, and reducing overall spending across the Medicare programs while enhancing the overall quality of care and offering additional benefits to Medicare patients. The program takes advantage of Complete Health’s advanced quality care programs and makes it available for its 12,000 Medicare patients in Florida and Alabama. Complete Health employs a large team of medical professionals who coordinate all aspects of patient care such as assisting beneficiaries with specialist appointments, prescription drugs, home health, inpatient management, and all other aspects of care delivery.

The DCE patient-focused model establishes processes to connect aligned beneficiaries to a primary care provider, particularly high-value health care providers, managing cost risks for patients, deploying care coordinators, reducing missed appointments, and assisting with training of in-home aides on things such as nutrition for patients with health conditions. DCEs also actively promote long-term care solutions such as flu vaccines, preventive screenings, evidence-based fall prevention and diabetes management.

Complete Health is a physician-driven, professionally managed, technology-enabled primary care group delivering excellent quality support services and patient health outcomes. The group based in Florida has practices in metro-Birmingham, Alabama and metro-Daytona, Florida, with growth plans across the Southeast. Complete Health builds on existing practices to embrace value-based care concepts, reduce physician administrative burden, and focus on patient care and quality outcomes – all while lowering the total cost of care.
